Students each created an I.D. card, choosing a polygon to be their identity. Students entered the dance floor whenever a name for their chosen polygon popped up on the screen. (quadrangle, parallelogram, right angles, etc....) Half way through, they were given the chance to change their polygon. Most students decided that they should change their polygon to be a square, because it got them access to the most dance parties! In the end, we named the V.I.P. (Very Important Polygon) a square! Math Minds Challenge: What are ALL the names for a square? As a provocation into our new unit of inquiry: Where We are in Place and Time...we presented about a significant person AS the significant person. Miss Lisa presented as Wangari Maathai and I presented as Lucille Ball. Miss Akweley presented as Dr. Ben Carson. Students will have the opportunity to present as a significant person at our Living Museum in April! Every other Friday afternoon, we are meeting with KG-A to read aloud to each other. This gives the students to an opportunity to practice their oral reading fluency and reading expression. As well as a chance to form a relationship with a younger child and show empathy and kindness! |
